The Sapphire
The centre is a 0.62 carat yellow sapphire, 5 mm across. Its colour is warm gold, close to honey in daylight. Against yellow gold, it reads rich rather than pale.
Sapphire rates 9 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among popular gems. The GIA's sapphire guide covers its range of colours.
A Baguette Diamond Pendant
Baguette diamonds, 0.28 carats in all, radiate from the centre like rays. Their long, flat facets flash rather than sparkle. That makes this a striking baguette diamond pendant as well.
A Heart Sunburst Pendant
The outline forms a heart, softening the sharp sunburst lines. At 13 × 17 mm, the heart sunburst pendant suits daily wear. The 7 mm bail fits most chains.
A September Birthstone Gift
Sapphire is the birthstone for September, in every colour. A yellow sapphire pendant is a sunnier way to mark it. In Vedic tradition, yellow sapphire is also known as Pukhraj.
